Billy O’s Slow Cooker Italian Sausage

I love Italian sausage so I made this for the family the other night. I served it straight into a bowl, but you can serve it with paste if you like.
Ingredients
- 2-3 Italian sausages
- 2 medium red onion, sliced
- 1 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes
- 4 cloves of garlic, peeled and smashed
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 cup cilantro
Servings: people
Instructions
- Cut the sausages into 3 inch pieces. Heat olive oil in a heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until brown on both sides. Add sliced onion, garlic, salt, and pepper and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chicken broth, diced tomatoes, oregano, cilantro, sausages, bay leaf and onions to crock pot. Cook for 4-6 hours.
- Serve in bowls with or without pasta.
